A SMASHING SUCCESS

Hello White Ashians,

Happy Tuesday. Thanks to you spreading the word, we are continuing to motor along on Kickstarter and have SMASHED THROUGH our first two stretch goals, Hi-Ho Silver and Mystery Pin up #1. This means…

…we will be adding a silver foil to the actual hardcover of the book. (The one underneath the slip cover). It also means we’ll be adding another PIN UP.  As such, we’re thrilled to announce that Lisa Sterle, co-creator of the hit comic Long Lost (Scout Comics) and Submerged (Vault Comics) will be gracing us with her take on White Ash.

A little taste of Lisa's spectacular work
A little taste of Lisa's spectacular work

Lisa has worked for a slew of publishers that also include: Black Mask, IDW and Boom Studios. We can’t wait to see what she does for White Ash.

And as much as we love Conor and Fin (and we really do), there’s something incredibly exciting about seeing other artists' take on our characters. Like this amazing pin-up by Jamie Jones featuring Aleck and Lillian with his original character The Baboon.

Jamie’s The Baboon is also on Kickstarter right now.  And if you like the style of this pin up, you need to get yourself over to his page IMMEDIATELY.

Charlie here, I’ve always been a huge Will Eisner fan. And for me, Jamie is channeling the essence of The Spirit to create an amazing homage to those pulpy comics of the 40’s.

I love everything about the look of this book and CAN’T WAIT to get my hands on a copy of it.

Thanks again for spreading the word of our town. We’ll be back tomorrow with another little announcement.

All the very best from Team Ash (AKA Charlie, Conor and Fin)

Exploding out of the gate!
about 5 years ago – Fri, Mar 22, 2019 at 10:05:03 PM

 Hello White Ashians,

What an absolutely incredible start to the campaign. Monday was our biggest day one to date!  With you amazing backers showing up in full force, we're already tipping past 85% funded. We're thrilled, as not only are we already tantalizingly close to being funded, but with such a strong beginning, we have a real shot of reaching a bunch of our stretch goals.  Which means this book is going to be even more packed with art and hopefully OVERSIZED.

So thank you for making the first 30 or so hours of this campaign off the charts.  We know there are a lot of incredible books on Kickstarter right now.  For you to choose to back us with your dollars means everything.

That said, if you are looking for other places to to spend your other  dollars, there are two incredible campaigns on Kickstarter you should be checking out right now.  The first is Killtopia #2 by Dave Cook.

If you love Cyberpunk, old-school manga and anime, you need to head on over quickly. Killtopia is set in a mega-city in future Japan. The city's Sector K district is infested with killer mechs. Heavily-armed soldiers of fortune called Wreckers are paid to hunt them for money, fame and glory.

The story starts as a rookie Wrecker called Shinji encounters the world's first sentient mech called Crash. They are then both hunted like fugitives across the neon-soaked metropolis by Wreckers, android killers and Yakuza gangs in a violent battle royale to end them all!

The first volume of the series launched last year on Kickstarter and went on to win a bunch of awards.  The second volume looks just as good.

And speaking of projects that look good, if you back comics on Kickstarter and you don't know the breathtakingly gorgeous Skies of Fire, it's far past the time to check them out.

Charlie here.  Skies of Fire was the book that made me realize high-quality comics were being made on the platform.  It was only after seeing Ray and Vince's book that I thought Kickstarter could be the place to build White Ash.  The dieselpunk airship adventure is a visual feast with fully realized world.  With Skies of Fire you'll immediately see you've entered a universe that you'll want to explore for years to come.  Skies, like White Ash is also running a series of early-bird specials.  So check them out today while it's cheap.

And again, thank you for backing our comic.  To our returning backers we extend an extra bow, you truly have helped us build something incredible.  And if you're new to White Ash, welcome to town, we can't wait to show you the place.

AMAZING! What can we say but...

Hello White Ashians,

Yes, THANK YOU so much.  We thought a montage of past thank you cards would be fitting for the trade collection. All of us at Team Ash are overjoyed that we're going to be able to bring you this hardcover, because we are 100% FUNDED!!!

Well, actually, as of this update we are 107% funded.  Which is amazing as we're already approaching our first stretch goal Hi-Ho Silver (at $17,500), to add a foil stamp  to the cover of the book.

After that, we're going to be adding more artists to our stable of incredible illustrators doing pin-ups.  So tell your friends all about White Ash, and let's make it the best and hopefully the biggest book possible.  We want this to be a book that everyone will be proud to have on their coffee table, shelf... or yes, in the bathroom (if that's where you like to do your reading).

Speaking of things you should be reading, there are some spectacular books on kickstarter right now. Some, like Section Zero 1959 (which we previously mentioned) are only on for a few more hours.  One book you certainly don't want to miss out on is Death Sentence Liberty.

Death Sentence has a really wild (and adult) conceit about an STD that gives you superpowers but kills you in six months.

Charlie here, I've read the first two issues of the comic and I was incredibly impressed how it balanced humor, action and well... Adult themes in a way that completely flowed together. Monty Nero has created a complete and screwed up universe that's definitely worth dropping in on. Death Sentence only will be live for another 12 hours.  So check it out now while you still have a chance.

On the complete other end of the spectrum is Ashley Robinson's AURORA & THE EAGLE #1

This is a YA comic, about Aurora Borealis -- Canada’s best superhero. She harnesses the powers of the Northern Lights to do everything from taking out maple syrup thieves dressed in hockey gear to preserving Natural Resources and her nation’s cultural identity from high-level political villains. Things are going swimmingly for her in the Great White North, until she is invited to become something more.

This coming of age tale looks really charming.  Ashley was the co-writer of Jupiter Jet for Action Lab (among other titles). If this is anywhere close to as good as that, it's a book you're going to want to add to your collection.

Thank you again, White Ashians.  Our Hardcover is now green-lit for production. We can't wait to get it to you.  And we could have never done it without you.

We'll be back in touch very soon.

All of our best from Team Ash (Charlie, Conor and Fin)
